About Us

Studentjobs.gov is a joint project between the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the U.S. Department of Education’s Student Financial Assistance office. This Web site is designed to be your one stop for information you need to find the job you want in the Federal Government. Whether you’re in high school, college, or graduate school, you could be eligible for a variety of special opportunities for students in the Federal government. Studentjobs.gov gives you access to OPM's USAJOBS database of thousands of opportunities, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Working with the Federal Government offers valuable job experience, training opportunities, and excellent benefits, in prime locations around the world, with plenty of opportunity for advancement.

Most Federal agencies are required to post vacancies on this database; and Studentjobs.gov has gathered information on the agencies that aren't required to post their vacancies at Other Job Opportunities, giving you the most comprehensive access to Federal job opportunities available. Learn about co-ops, internships, summer employment, the Outstanding Scholars Program, volunteer opportunities, and plenty of temporary and permanent part-time and full-time jobs.

Here's what you 'll find at Studentjobs.gov:

Search for Jobs

Access our database of up-to-date information on great job opportunities with the Federal government, and discover opportunities around the world, as well as job applications and other necessary forms. Some positions even let you apply online.

Create a Profile

This is a wonderful time-saving tool! You can input information about yourself, and get notified of each new vacancy that matches your profile, via e-mail. Then you can visit the site for details and apply if it’s something you’re interested in.

Create a Résumé

You won’t get very far until you have a résumé to send potential employers. This function helps you create a résumé appropriate for applying for Federal jobs. When you’re done, you can save it to the system for sending electronically, or print it out.

Agency Information Gateway

Learn more about government agencies: what they do, where their offices are located, what sort of employment opportunities there are, and when they prefer to receive applications. There are also links to agency home pages, information pages, and agency articles to give you a complete picture of any agency you’re applying to.

Other Job Opportunities

Additional Federal employment opportunities are hard to find if they aren’t listed in the common database. Some agencies aren’t required to list in our database, but we’ve cut out a step for you by linking to some of these agencies..

Your journey to success begins here!
