IT Innovations: Where Stars Are Born

Federal Student Aid (FSA) is the largest provider of student financial aid in the Nation. We work with schools, lenders, and state guarantee agencies to provide over $68 billion in financial aid each year to America's college students through grants, loans and work study programs.

IT Innovations is looking for college students who are interested in a dynamic career opportunity working for FSA, the first Performance Based Organization in the Federal government. We are an R&D (Research and Development) shop that devises creative strategies and uses cutting edge technology to improve the delivery of student aid. To re-engineer business processes, we conduct pilots using proven "best practices" from the private and public sector and forge strategic partnerships with industry leaders. Our end goal is to provide exemplary customer service to college students and schools.

We are involved in several exciting projects that are aimed at cutting the cost of delivering student aid, improving customer service to college students and boosting our employees' job satisfaction. Some examples include:

  • Electronic IDs for College Students
  • Web Site Development for Student Jobs
  • Employee ID Smart Cards

We are hiring for full-time, career service positions (candidates must be U.S. citizens). If you are a recent college graduate with a minimum GPA of 3.45, we can hire you for a career position through the Federal government's Outstanding Scholar Program without all the bureaucratic red tape. Positions begin at the GS-7 level ($29,966) and continue on a non-competitive career path to a GS-12 ($53,156). Promotions above the GS-12 level are on a competitive basis.

As a federal government employee, you will also receive a benefits package that no private sector job can match: A flexible work schedule. 10 paid holidays. 13 sick days. 13+ vacation days. A retirement annuity. Matching funds for your Thrift Savings account (the government's version of the 401k). Low cost health insurance (72% of the premium cost is paid by the government) with the option of using pre-tax dollars to pay your portion. Low cost life insurance. Transit benefits up to $65 per month to help defray the cost of your commute.

Come join a team of "star" professionals and help us modernize our country's federal student aid programs. In exchange, you will gain valuable experience in the Federal and private sector IT world and make a real difference in the lives of students.
