OVERSIGHT, INTEGRITY, GUIDANCE

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) conducts investigations of employee misconduct and performs audits and inspections of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) programs and operations. The OIG also investigates all allegations of fraud by contractors, grantees and recipients of DOJ benefits, and third parties improperly seeking to influence DOJ employees. The OIG recommends, where appropriate, changes in policies or procedures to improve efficiency.

The OIG is headquartered in Washington, DC. Field offices are in Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; San Diego, CA; Jamaica, NY; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; El Paso, TX; McAllen, TX; and Tucson, AZ. Most of these offices utilize students hired under the Student Temporary Employment Program to perform a variety of technical and clerical functions. Our students are hired as Office Automation Clerks/Clerk Typists at the GS-2, 3, 4 and 5 levels. For a link to federal salaries, visit: http://www.opm.gov/oca/payrates.
