Program YOUR Future
The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) provides Federal leadership in
developing the nation's capacity to prevent and control crime, improve
the criminal and juvenile justice systems, increase knowledge about
crime and related issues, and assist crime victims. Through the
programs developed and funded by its bureaus and offices, OJP works
to form partnerships among Federal, state, and local government
officials to control drug abuse and trafficking; reduce and prevent
crime; rehabilitate neighborhoods; improve the administration of
justice in America; meet the needs of crime victims; and address
problems such as gang violence, prison over-crowding, juvenile crime,
and white-collar crime. Some offices provide support to the core
mission organizations, while most of OJP's offices and bureaus
conduct research, provide technical assistance, and administer
grants to other agencies, to state and local governments and also to
scholars, practitioners, and experts.
Each year, OJP offers part-time employment opportunities for
approximately 20 - 25 high caliber students at all academic levels
from high school through graduate school. Students working in
degree programs involving criminal justice, law enforcement, social
science, and statistics will find experience with OJP particularly
relevant to their career goals, but applications from students in
other programs are welcome as well. Applications are periodically
solicited, particularly in the Fall, but resumes with cover letters
explaining areas of interest are invited at any time during the year.
OJP is committed to the Attorney General's diversity employment
