Defense Supply Center - Philadelphia
Ready Your Career with DSCP
The Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP) is an Inventory
Control Point within the Defense Logistics Agency. DSCP annually
provides over $4.85 billion worth of food, clothing, textiles,
medicines, medical equipment, general and industrial supplies and
services to America's war fighters, their eligible dependents and
other non-Defense Department customers worldwide. DSCP is located
on the Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP) Philadelphia Compound
in Northeast Philadelphia at 700 Robbins Avenue, Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania 19111-5096.
Programs
We offer two student employment programs. DSCP has a variety of
flexible work schedules that employees can choose including eight,
nine or ten hour days (based on full-time employment). Plus, employees
can vary their arrival/departure times within a specified period.
Employees can earn up to thirteen sick days per year and vacation days
start at thirteen days per year (based on full-time employment).
- The Student Career Experience Program provides for periods of
attendance at accredited schools combined with periods of
career-related work. Students who have met all the requirements of
this Program may be noncompetitively converted to a career or
career-conditional appointment in an occupation related to their
academic training and work study experiences within 120 days of
completion of their academic program. Tuition assistance is available
for all or part of the training expenses.
- The Student Temporary Employment Program provides flexibility to
appoint students on a temporary basis to jobs that may or may not be
related to their academic field of study. Appointments are not to
exceed one year; extensions are permissible in one-year increments.
Students may be converted to the Student Career Experience Program
when requirements of that program are met and an appropriate position
is available. Employment can range from summer jobs to positions that
can last for as long as the individual is a student.
The Programs are year-round programs and appointments may be made
at any time during the year, including summer. Students may work
full-time or part-time schedules. There are no limitations on the
number of hours students can work per week, but it should not
interfere with their academic schedule. There is no requirement for
students to meet any specific economic/income criteria to be eligible
for either component.
Applications
Applications are accepted year-round for most student programs,
with the exception of the summer program that is advertised around
March 15th every year.
